Glycerin is used in food and beverages as humectant, solvent, sweetener, sugar substitute, food preserver and thickening agent in liqueurs. It is also used as raw material of polyols to product nitroglycerin, to manufacture mono-glycerides and di-glycerides in pharmaceuticals and medicines such as cough syrups, expectorants, toothpaste, mouthwashes, skin care products, shaving cream, hair products, soap and water based personal lubricants. Available in colorless, odorless and viscous liquid forms with water and hygroscopic solubility.
